Punjabi Cultural Night 2016

 

The Punjabi Cultural Night 2016 was truly a remarkable event in the history of Woman Care Trust. This was the first ever event independently organized by Woman Care Trust. The event was organized at Vodafone Event Centre, Manukau Auckland on 16th July 2016 where approximately 2500 ladies attended the event. The show was a sold out event, we had to close the ticket sale due to Event hall fully occupied by the ladies.Woman Care Trust is overwhelmed by the response from the audience at the event. The success of the event helped WCT in achieving its goal of Women’s Wellbeing and Community Development. The idea behind the event was to keep the Punjabi Community attached to their roots, spreading the diversity of Punjabi culture and creating awareness among young generation of their culture.Once the show was opened by all MC’s, the event started with the Punjabi holy prayer “Shabad” recited by few members of WCT. Then the performances started with Virsa Academy Kids who performed Bhangra & Giddha. Next performance was by “Saanjh” Organisation kids who performed Bhangra. All the kids’ performances were praised and liked by the audience.After the breath holding performances by the kids Baljit K Dheil honored the members of WCT by giving them away certificates as per their duration of study in the English & Computer classes.WCT is very grateful to all the sponsors of Punjabi cultural Night 2016 for supporting our event. Also would like to request these organization’s to provide us the support in the future as well so that we can arrange similar activities for the benefit of the Community.After giving away the certificates at stage, everyone enjoyed the beautiful Punjabi song sang by MC Harmeek. Next Performance of Bhangra & Giddha was by Punjab Bolda group, then Giddha Hamilton group performed Giddha Heeran Da.Then was the most highlighted  & attractive performance of the show “Heritage Fashion Show “ prepared by WCT members showing the three generations of Punjab. It was very much praised and enjoyed by audience. Baljit Dheil, Paramjit Kaur and Kal Kular put their efforts in preparing this performance.After the dance performances Bajigarian showed some comedy to add some fun to the show. Saanjh girls performed Bhangra and Giddha, their energetic dance was fantastic and liked by everyone. WCT ladies prepared the play on “Save Girls” to deliver message to our community. Then next performance was Bhangra by Next Generation Mutarian, Another different kind of Giddha “Pendu Giddha” was performed by Saanjh ladies. After that Bhangra was performed by Trinjana Group. Video of the WCT classes and activities performed at the Community Centre kept playing on the side screen near the stage during the event. There was Jadoo TV connection box and LED TV given away in the price draw sponsored by Asirwad atta and Jadoo TV.After all the above performances was the most awaited Giddha prepared by Golden Girls of WCT. Everyone liked the dance, and costume of the ladies. The energy level of the ladies surprised the audience.Baljit K Dheil on behalf of WCT acknowledged Mrs. Punjaban by giving her bouquet of flowers. All the performances were really fantastic, enjoyed and praised by the audience. WCT would like to congratulate and thanks all the participants for their performances and really appreciate the hard work and their efforts in making the event successful and memorable. Also the participants felt very proud and honored to be part of the event as they got an opportunity to show their talent and get recognized in the society. Also this event kept the ladies so busy in the preparations that it was helpful to them in overcoming depression, loneliness and boredom. After all the performances audience demanded for live DJ, then everyone danced and enjoyed a lot.The Event went out really well and success of the event was beyond our expectation. WCT gathered really good experience in organising this event which will help us in organising similar events in near future and also learn to improve the mistakes done in this event.We are overwhelmed by the response received from the people not only living in New Zealand but also our event was praised by foreigners. This way we achieved our goal of spreading our Punjabi Culture globally.
