16th Senior Ladies Day
Woman Care Trust organised their 16th Senior Ladies Day on 29th August 2016 at Community Centre. About 65-70 ladies attended the event. The function started with reciting holy prayer “Chaupai Sahib Path”. After prayer all the ladies recited “Shabad” and whole atmosphere was filled with religious & spiritual feeling. The prayer was very mind relaxing, gives them strength, stress relief and nice way of keeping the ladies connected to god. After that Tea and refreshment (Indian snacks samosas) was sponsored by WCT to celebrate the success of Punjabi Cultural Night 2016. We gave away the free bangles left over from the event to the ladies. All ladies were happy to wear colourful bangles as this reminded them of their home country. After then the ladies got the chance to calm the mind and relax the body by playing Indian Traditional games. These games are not only helpful in bringing positive changes in mind and body but also is very helpful in reducing stress. Baljit Dheil then distributed prizes to the game winners to keep them motivated. The ladies forget their loneliness and boredom when they attend this function as they change to interact with new people and extend their social network. This time people from Local Board Papatoetoe came to provide information about the Local Board and requested the ladies to support them in making the committee to work for the benefit of the community. After that Dr Kamal provided important information on benefits of eating Cinnamon to ladies. Also she gave some more good information on health and balanced diet. The ladies also cleared their doubts and questions from Dr Kamal on health and eating habits. After this there was another session by Yoga instructor Paramjit Kaur, where ladies learnt some yoga postures and exercises. In the afternoon, one of the ladies Paramjit Kaur had arranged Vegetable rice and desert for the ladies lunch. Some of the ladies Regardless of age, everyone loves to have fun, and older seniors are no exception. Having a good laugh and sharing enjoyable activities can be a wonderful way to stay actively engaged in life. The function was successful for Woman Care Trust and was another step in achieving its goal of Woman’s Wellbeing and Community Development.
