Woman Care Trust successfully celebrated their 19th Senior Ladies Day on 28th November 2016 at Community Centre. About 70-80 ladies attended the event. As usual we started our function with reciting holy prayer “Chaupai Sahib Path” After prayer all the ladies recited “Shabad” and whole atmosphere was filled with religious & spiritual feeling. After the prayers WCT had arranged for Tea and one of our member bought Indian snack “Samosas” for the refreshment of the ladies. After the tea break ladies played some traditional games. Staying active sharpens the brain function of senior and for seniors age, their bodies being having difficulty regulating stress hormones. As a result, the elderly experience higher doses of these hormones, leading to high blood pressure and diminished immune systems. However, getting engaged in playing these games helps them to reduce stress .As a lack of contact with friends and family elderly people can aggravate the feeling of depression and loneliness, it’s important to find ways to help your loved one stay social. Playing games will give your loved one an opportunity to make friends and socialize, helping him or her avoid feelings of isolation and loneliness. Baljit Dheil then distributed prizes to the game winners to keep them motivated and feel energetic. After playing games WCT had arranged Naturopathy health session for the ladies in which Dr Kamal provided important information on benefits of Indian spice “Turmeric” in curing various diseases. Dr Kamal also helped the ladies by answering them their personal health issues. After the health session, all the ladies performed exercise under the supervision and guidance of Yoga instructor Paramjit Kaur. WCT had arranged for lunch for the ladies, Indian Curry and rice. Socialization creates reasons to stay well for the ladies and helps foster a positive state of mind. On this day ladies cultivate strong relationships with others, they gain a sense of fulfilment, and spending quality time with others which reminds them that their life is worthwhile. All the ladies witnessed the successful celebration of the Seniors Ladies Day and also this achievement is another step for Woman Care Trust in achieving its goal of Woman’s Wellbeing and Community Development.
