Rangitoto Island

Woman Care Trust organised a bus and ferry trip to Rangitoto Island on 15th February 2020. Rangitoto Island is one of Auckland’s most unique and iconic locations, being located only a short ferry ride from downtown Auckland, makes this spectacular volcanic island destination a favourite for everyone. The trip was attended by 51 ladies. The journey began with reciting religious prayer in the bus till they reached downtown for ferry. The ladies were very excited for ferry ride as this was a new experience for some of them. On their way to Rangitoto Island they had breakfast on the ferry, and had wonderful time while enjoying the view and taking pictures. Rangitoto Island offers a range of activities for the family, including walking / hiking, fishing, camping and sea kayaking.

One of them is Summit Track. To reach the summit track WCT booked in for 4 wheel drive road-train to experience epic views as it is a one-hour walk from Rangitoto Wharf. All the members enjoyed the ride and had so much fun throughout. They took pictures, sing songs, share jokes, and play musical game- Antakshari. After train there was a track to walk through which took them to Summit Track. Everyone enjoyed their afternoon summit walk on Rangitoto. The track is uphill but not too strenuous. They take time to stop and enjoy the view at the top and explore. It was a Great walk to the top and an amazing view of Auckland from the Summit. All the members also got their food with them as there are no shops on Rangitoto Island. At the top ladies had their time to eat, play, dance and to enjoy the views. The main motive of the trip was to improve their social network by making more friends and came to know more about New Zealand surroundings.
