Woman Care Trust is overwhelmed with the excellent response from the audience this year again .Organized by Woman Care Trust independently for the fifth time in a row, the event this year created another history of house full occupancy. The popularity of the event was very well evident with presence of approximately 2400 ladies.

The key element of attraction that brings such a massive crowd of women from different ethnic backgrounds is that ‘it’s a women-only’ event that gives them the freedom to wear their ethnic dresses and dance freely without being conscious of the presence of men around. This event has performances from women of all age groups, children as young as six years old to senior citizens who practice for their performances for months perfecting their actions and putting up a stellar show for the audience.

At event we had people from all cultures such as Punjabi, Gujarati, South Indian, Islanders, Kiwi, Russian, Brazilian, etc. which helped us in achieving our motive to foster cross cultural connections within the community.

The idea to bring the show was to create a platform for local crowd to showcase their dance and entertaining talents on an all-women crowd and give a night of absolute entertainment, dance and music- a night free of any worries and just entertainment.

Most of the performers were students from Woman Care Trust who prepared their event performances after attending dance classes the Woman care Trust. Through this event, we encourage girls in our and other communities to come together under one roof as one family and show their cultural diversity through dance and music. “This event also keeps the new generation of Kiwi Indians to know more about their culture, their heritage, music and history. “It promotes cultural diversity, inclusiveness and cohesiveness between different cultures,”

Once the show was opened by the MC’s, event started with religious prayers recited by senior members of the trust followed by brilliant and eye catching performances by a large ethnically wide cultural range of performing groups which included Punjabi folk dance Gidha by seniors, young girls and ladies, Bhangra by Kids and girls group, Classical Fusion, Bollywood dance, tribal belly dance, Samba and Sri Lankan Dance performance. These energetic and wonderful performances by local talent added value to the event. The participants felt very proud and honored to be part of the event as they got an opportunity to show their talent and get recognized in the society. Also this event kept the ladies so busy in the preparations that it was helpful to them in overcoming depression, loneliness and boredom.

The event was not only entertainment focused, but it had plenty of stalls to promote culturally specific products and food. The event also provided a platform to collect donations from the visitors which will be forwarded to the farmers protesting in India. We had a special prayer at the event to give strength to the farmers protesting to repeal the farm laws in India. We dimmed the lights of the event hall and attendees light up their phone torches and everyone witnessed a sea of white lights flashing and slow dancing in the event hall. There were few other price draws organized by the sponsors: – Diamond Ring from Radio Sadeeala and Television and gift vouchers from Tulip Financial Services.

The highlight of the event was the way each woman was dressed in their best, some of them even had clothes and coordinated accessories flown in from India especially for this event. Dazzling like stars and diamonds, in their ethnic Punjabi wear, clad with spectacular jewellery and footwear. And they all captured these beautiful looks at the photo booth area. Woman Care Trust had also arranged the Indian ethnic costumes for the WCT Girls Bhangra Team for their performance at the event.

Woman Care Trust is very grateful and sincerely appreciate the support from NZCT, Four Winds and Akarana Community Trust. These organization played very crucial role in organizing the event by approving the funds required , as without their support we would have not able to organize this event and serve the community.
