India Independence Day Celebration

A proud moment for Woman Care Trust to be the part of united communities that came together to celebrate India’s Independence Day on 12th August 2018 at the Mahatma Gandhi Centre in Auckland.

The dignitaries who marked the presence on this special eve were Mayor of Auckland His Worship Len Brown. High Commissioner of India His Excellency Ravi Thapar, Minister of Ethnic Affairs Judith Collins, Labour Party was represented by Phil Goff, Leader of NZ First Party Winston Peters, Members of Parliament, Auckland Council Councillors & Local Board Members, Representatives of the Community Organisations, Community Leaders and many distinguished Guests. The event started by flag hosting with National Anthem. The excellent performance by our Gidha team (Golden Girls) was undoubtedly the most applauded performance by the large audience. We truly admire the efforts and hard work that has been undertaken by contributions from all the team members. This was a wonderful opportunity for our organisation to showcase our Culture heritage and present our folk dance & attire in front of other communities and participate in the celebration of our freedom day.
